The Fire in the Carmel Woods in Haifa

Dear Friends,
I sadly send this out to our friends around the world .A huge fire in the Carmel Mountains in Haifa has taken more than 40 lives. The trees will take 50 years to grow again in this once beautiful area that so many people love. We are saddened and crying at Globaldreamers today.
Mass evacuations as huge blaze threatens Haifa
Over 15,000 residents moved to safety as brushfire sweeps across northern Israel, leaving 40 dead.
These are the horrible headlines during our Chanukah vacation. We wish to thank the many countries around the world who are sending in help at this moment to try put out the deadly flames. We appreciate this beyond words.
Israeli officials said some 100 firefighters from Bulgaria have arrived as well as forces from Jordan and Greece. Fire extinguishing planes were on their way from Britain and Cyprus as well as aid from the United States, Russia, Egypt, Spain, Azerbaijan, Romania and Turkey — which put aside recent tensions to lend a hand.
In times like this we can only say thank you and pray that no more lives will be taken during these horrible days.
We are sad and hope they will be able to put on the inferno soon which is still causing so much fear and damage to Haifa Israel's 3rd largest city.
Sending love,
Marsha Goren

Marsha Presenting at the Global Education Conference Nov. 15th, 2010

Dear Friends,
I am writing to tell you about the
Global Education Conference
I will be presenting on November 15th , 8 in the evening our time in Israel, you can check here for your time.Teachers who can not watch may download for free the next day.
http://www.globaleducationconference.com/schedule-gmt2.html
TITLE: Globaldreamers peace project
PRESENTER: Marsha Goren, Ein Ganim Elementary (Israel)
FORMAT: Presentation
LANGUAGE: English
SHORT DESCRIPTION: Global Dreamers: Peace Project. The Dream a Dream project was developed by Mrs. Marsha Goren of Ein Ganim School Israel in 2000 and first met the Internet in 2001. The idea started as a vehicle to encourage children and educators to share in a learning environment that would lead to global communication and tolerance. It inspires children to take a deeper look at the world by exploring, exchanging ideas, and using research tools, which supports a positive learning environment and a shared learning experience. Because of the war between Israel and the Palestinians which began in December 2008, schools were invited to join the peace project. The children felt the need to express their feelings on the subject together with many partners around the world.
TRACK: Policy and Leadership
In addtion I would like to add that we are still accepting work for the fall project and thank the educators for sending us such lovely materials.
Our peace project is ongoing and you are invited to add materials, it is really a great unit with so many schools including lovely lesson plans, worksheets, online activities, songs, etc.
Use and enjoy,

News from Globaldreamers

http://www.globaldreamers.org/Jholidays/12torches.html

Dear friends,
Independence day was a special day for me. The custom is 12 people are chosen to light 12 enternal torches in Jerusalem and say a blessing for the coming year. It is considered the highest honor. A local paper in my city Petach Tikva chose me as being worthy of lighting a torch in Israel. If you look under the torches you will find your Globaldreamers friend. I also would love any comments on the wallwisher from any of you.
We are still accepting spring pictures on share and if anyone has anymore it is really looking nice. You can see it here.
http://www.globaldreamers.org/10spring/index.html
We have also begun our yearly Holocaust unit here and you can add whenever you find something appropriate. We feel this is so educational in so many ways, please join us.
http://www.globaldreamers.org/10holocaust/index.html
I have also written about our peace project which won the elearning competition in 2009. It is on the epals forum, you can find it here.
http://www.epals.com/forums/p/37927/229680.aspx#229680
