Our winning project was our globaldreamers peace project.
You can read about it here and see the first pics from the ceremony. The peace project as it appears on the elearning site.

New dream project on Globaldreamers

the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true
We're starting the school year looking at our Dreams. The Ein Ganim chorus has given us their rendition of "Over the Rainbow". You have likely seen The Wizzard of Oz and know that Dorothy dreamed of getting back home, the Tin Man of having a heart, The Lion of being brave, and the Scarecrow of having a brain. Along with all our Global Dreamers out there we will create a video with this song and YOUR images. What do you really want most of all? What is really, really important? You can send us photos (high resolution please) that show us your dream.
You can work together with your class to stage a photo.
You can draw on the computer (At least 800X600 pixels and 300 dpi).
You can draw on paper and scan (again, at least a resolution of 300).

We would love to receive your dreams and we will add them to the Somewhere over the rainbow song with different pics from our friends.

Please join us and we look forward to another great year in Globaldreamers.

Sincerely,

Marsha Goren -Dream coordinator

Safe Haven to Universal Studios

Dear Friends,

It has been a fantastic year for Globaldreamers and I am including the Globaldreamers with the hope that you will all continue dreaming with us again next year.

NBC Universal To Consider Safe Haven Film
Ryszard Zabinski re-visits his childhood home -- the Warsaw Zoo.
June 6, 2009
Port Orange, Florida
Blue Heron International Pictures announced today that its latest Holocaust documentary -- Safe Haven: The Warsaw Zoo -- has been submitted to NBC Universal for feature film consideration.
"We believe this story has great potential to become a major motion picture," said Executive Producer Richard Lester.
"It has heroes, villains, and a powerful message which is currently resonating among young people around the world."
Award-winning director Gary Lester agrees that his documentary should only be the beginning.
"It is a compelling story of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Now it needs to be a major motion picture," said Lester.
NBC Universal holds what basically amounts to an audition process for film-makers each year.
"It's called NBC Universal Shortcuts, and it is designed to attract high-interest level stories which are well told by an ethnically and culturally diverse production team. We meet both criteria," said Gary Lester. "Our main producers are from Poland and Israel, as are two of the main characters in the story."
As for interest level, Marsha Goren, Educational Outreach Coordinator for the documentary, reports that she has received e-mails from scores of students and educators in Israel, Poland, Holland, Belgium, India and the United States.
Blue Heron International Pictures, the Florida production company that released the internationally popular documentary in March, has also been besieged with requests for the film.
"We're on our third production run and simply can't keep up with demand for the DVD," said Richard Lester.
That's not surprising. At the end of May, the Internet Movie Data base (imdb.com) was reporting 2.9 million hits on the film's web page.
Safe Haven premiered on network television in Israel in April. Since then, Israel Channel 10 has been streaming the documentary from its website, with both Hebrew and Russian subtitles.
Will Hollywood be the next stop for a compelling story about the heroic Warsaw zookeeper and his family? "I'd like to think so," said Richard Lester.
"However, it's a long and difficult road from documentary to feature film. I expect approximately 1,000 other stories will be submitted to Universal for consideration, and only three production deals will be offered."
Director Gary Lester remains upbeat about the possibilities. "You can't win it if you're not in it, and two copies of the DVD are now on their way to Universal Studios in California."

Israeli Students React To Safe Haven
Safe Haven screens in Israel
Less than two weeks after its release, Safe Haven: The Warsaw Zoo has attracted the interest of several international film festivals, television programmers, and Israeli school-children.
"Thanks to Marsha Goren, the film's Education Outreach coordinator in Israel, students are already watching the film in their classrooms," said Richard Lester, executive producer of Blue Heron International Pictures. "In fact, we have received all sorts of e-mail from them enthusiastically endorsing the film."
The student letters, along with their photos, have been posted on the Global Dreamers page on the company website at www.blueheronpix.com .
"I love those letters," said award-winning director Gary Lester. "You can tell that the thoughts expressed in them came from the heart."
"Next month, thanks to producer Alex Ringer, the film will be broadcast on national television in Israel with Hebrew sub-titles," said Lester.
Israeli television will also be re-broadcasting Lester's first Holocaust documentary, Deliver Us From Evil, which recently won a Crystal Reel Award from the Florida Motion Picture & Television Asociation.
Safe Haven veteran producer Feliks Pastusiak reports from Warsaw that the film also received a warm welcome from Ryszard and Teresa Zabinski, the two children of the heroic zoo-keepers.
The film's trailer is currently running on The Internet Movie Data Base at www.imdb.com, where it has already attracted three million viewers.

Thanks for caring about us!

Dear Friends,
These have been sad days here and we are all praying for the war to end with peace on all sides. We live in the center of Israel and have been safe from the missles and rockets however we feel sad and anxiety for the people living in the south. We are a very small country and believe me this effects everyone.
It is my deepest wish for peace everywhere which is what Globaldreamers main mission is. I warmly thank the many educators who have been writing to ask how we are and about our safety. It is truly heartwarming.
I also wish to thank everyone who has particiated in the winter celebration and it is truly awesome.
Our newest project is our international recipes. Please send us recipes with a picture if possible and we will be happy to add to our great food section.
I wish everyone a year of collaboration and peace. May we continue to work together with good intentions and friendships.
Sincerely,
Marsha Goren
