About Globaldreamers
Twenty years ago I was looking for ways to interest my children in their English studies. After many courses and difficult work, I realized the value of the Internet as a way of spreading an educational message around the world. The process has led me to become a technology innovator and global leader in online collaborative learning projects. These projects now include thousands of children from more than 37countries worldwide.
"Global Dreamers" (http://www.globaldreamers.org/) prompts students at Ein Ganim and from around the world to join in a multicultural project that captures students' thinking in a visual way. The Share section is full of information about many countries, cultures, schools, etc. There are also many group projects that participants can choose to join as their schedules allow.
"Global Dreamers" inspires children to take a deeper look at the world by exploring, exchanging ideas, and using research tools. It supports a positive learning environment and a shared learning experience. By inviting the participation of children from around the globe, it supports the fight against the Digital Divide. In addition, it aims to encourage cross-cultural communication and to promote global understanding, while helping children to expand their knowledge and supporting the innovative use of new technologies in education. Above all, it attempts to create a more tolerant individual in a multicultural society. We believe that by understanding and learning about others, children can face a better world.
As an EFL teacher it was my wish to combine English teaching along with technology. I wanted my students to experience a social, cultural and personal learning experience. This project utilizes Internet technologies for genuine learning of the English language by activating and motivating children with various online activities. In addition to the utilization of technologies, studying English will also assist different cultures in participating with greater understanding in the challenge of globalization.
The project's activities include a webquest about Israel and our 'dreamers' web site, writing and story corners, a calendar, a news corner and active online group activities. The project integrates technology in the classroom and children become active creative learners. It increases their curiosity, their interests and as a result they are more committed to the authentic learning process. There are many group projects that teachers can choose to join.
As a result of all the following, the number of participants grows from month to month. Over 100 schools and home-schooled families from around the world take part in our activities. Teachers, parents and children from around the world have joined in the dynamic GlobalDreamers project.
Right now we are implementing our peace project, as well as our festival of light project. We would love to have you and I look forward to making new friends on our website. Please contact me for details about our projects.

Reading website and great for young learners
I have decided to recommend websites that I can think our students at America School and others can benefit from. I came across this fantastic website and feel in love with it. For teaching children to read and sound out words it is free and fantastic! The videos are helpful and the audio is really a great assistance to young learners. I was highly impressed.
It is a great opportunity to reinforce reading skills for children of all ages!

Remembering 9-11 Our Firefighters and Heroes
Donated by:Barbra Wineman Scognamiglio- a friend from Waterbury, Connecticut where I grew up as a child.
• Marsha, thanks for the opportunity......I fondly remember my cousin David as being a jokester, always full of life and a lot of fun. He was born in Freeport LI and always wanted to be a firefighter. He spent countless hours in the fire station there, making friends with everyone. He became one of the elite Rescue 1 firemen; he was honored by the Mayor for rescuing a man whose car went of the road and into the Hudson River, diving into the river to save him. And as ironic as it was, the man was a friend of my Aunt Elaine’s. He had massive arms, covered in tattoos, his looks were rough and tough but he was gentle and loving. He was truly a hero, my personal hero of 9/11...nothing was ever found of him, but I am confident that he made it to heaven and is watching over everyone who loved him!
Images by Barbra Wineman Scognamiglio
This touched my heart so much that I had to share, special thanks to Barbra for this unique contribution. To the wonderful firefighters who lost their lives in vain, we salute you and dedicate this post to David on behalf of all of them.

New dreams for Marsha and the Globaldreamers
I first of all hope everyone is well and having a great vacation. I have retired from Ein Ganim School after 31 years of teaching and will still be doing my Globaldreamers project together with the Global Virtual Classroom Clubhouse as the new project manager for the club. The two programs will emerge and I am honored in doing this as I am a firm believer of global collaboration and online teaching. It is my hope and dream that everyone will continue dreaming with me. I also hope to involve some of my kids from my afternoon enrichment classes in our work.
I am honored and thrilled to be able to continue doing what I love so much. I will be going to the USA this Thursday and I will be meeting some of the Globaldreamers partners hopefully and it excites me very much.
Please read our new index page on Globaldreamers explaining the new school year. We will continue our dream.
Much thanks and gratitude to the many educators and students from around the world who have made Globaldreamers a great project.

International Holocaust Memorial day
I hope everyone is back and wanted to wish everyone a happy and healthy new year. On January 27th, 2011 , the world will remember the Holocaust as the international memorial day which was declared at the United Nations. As we do every year we are starting our yearly unit. I have written to the Holocaust Museum in Houston, Texas who is trying to collect butterflies for the one and half million children who perished in the Holocaust. The kids and I will be learning about the butterfly project as well as about my Mom, may God rest her soul Sonia Frenkel who as a Holocaust survivor and believed in the good of children and believed in education in creating a more tolerant and good individual.
